We did it again! About 12 of us were at the Quadrangle this year and and a lid lifter. The ovens were donated by Skip from Gander Mtn. The lid lifter from Carlos Harvey. Thanks go to Leah Roberts. She printed the t-shirts and aprons. Thanks to Brian Dudley and Harmer Dist. for the sodas and water. Thanks again to Skip for also donating the pavilions we were using. Man it was warm out there. Jerry baked a Hot Fudge Cake that was just wonderful! Rich, rich, rich. He also made a southwestern pork stew, corn chowder and several other fine meals. Flossie and Jackie made Banana Bread and
Squash Casserole. Pam made Hashbrown Casserole that was really good. Lori and I made Zatarain box meals and Dump Cakes. The French Market was the best. SilverTongue (Brian) Durbin and his wife Kari cooked Sugar-Cinnamon Bisquits and worked the raffle. We made enough to cover expenses and made a profit to boot. The kids were great helpers and thanks again to Billy. He was a great help to all when it came to packing and unpacking the equipment. Thanks again to all
that the members. We will be at Gander Mtn. Sept 30th. Set-up is 8am. Cooking begins at 9. We will be there until 3pm.
There will be a meeting at Gander Sept. 24th at 1pm.
Hello all, Well it is time to get out those Iron Pots and fire up that charcoal, Saturday is almost here. As you may have heard, we do not have the Pavilion at Bringle Lake this weekend, instead we are going to meet at the North Pavilion at Spring Lake Park. For those who do not know where that location is, it is the Pavilion on the Right as you come into the Park off of Realtor Road. Take the Summerhill Exit from IH-30 and turn South on Summerhill, take the second Lefthand turn after crossing over the Overpass, or the first Lefthand turn if you are exiting from Eastbound IH-30. Realtor Road winds past the Realtor's offices, and past the Church on the Rock. As you enter the Park you will see the Pavilion on your right. There is no Theme for September, so let's just have FUN! Some of us won't be able to cook this weekend, we are having a Staff development meeting at for the next Wood Badge Course. We may be able to stop by for Lunch however. I have talked to several people by phone who have seen the article in the Gazette, and are interested in meeting and cooking with us. There is an Event coming up the first weekend of October at Spring Lake Park that is sponsored by the Texarkana Museum System. It is the Annual Archeology Symposium. If you have attended one of these in the past, you know it is a big Event. The Director contacted us and wants us to conduct a Cooking Demo at the Symposium. Several of us won't be able to make it since the CScout Council moved the Fall Camporee dates, and rescheduled it for that weekend. We should still have a good turnout for it anyway. Be thimking about that for discussion at the meeting this weekend. Jerry.
Hello All,
Well Saturday is only a week away. It's time to get those pots out and get those coals hot again.
Don't forget that our second D.O.G.is next Saturday, the 11th. We will be at Bringle Lake Park, at the Pavilion closest to the Lake. For those who don't know where Bringle Lake Park is located:
Take Richmond Road North to Scott-Wright Road. Turn right on Scott-Wright. It will take you right to the Park. Scott-Wright is located at the North 40 Feed and Tackle shop, and Pleasant Grove Middle School is across the road from the North 40. It is easy to find. There are two Pavilions at the Park. As you enter, we will have the one closest to the lake. I really hope to see everyone there. Tell at least two more people.
Jerry Dukes.
Good Morning All.
A short word from N.E.Texas. The Caddo Area Dutch Oven Group held it's 2nd D.O.G this past Saturday at Bringle Lake Park in Texarkana. We are pround to announce that there were 22 Members, 9 Visitors and 15 Black Pots present. We signed up 4 new members. One of our newest members is my sons Science Teacher at Red Lick ISD. She is really interested in learning how to use her D.O. Don Sutton, one of our Charter Members, brought his new Ultimate Oven and roasted two of the best eating Chickens this Ole Southern Boy has ever sat down to. I mean they were some kind of good! We would like to invite everyone to our 3rd D.O.G. to be held on the 9th of July in Texarkana at Bringle Lake Park. Again we will start at 10:00 AM and eat when everything is ready. One of the things we have learned at the last 2 D.O.G. is not to set the eating time too early. Some things just don't always get done on your time schedule.
Jerry Dukes, C.A.D.O.G.
"Keep your Coals Hot, and your Pots Black."
WE DID IT! Three very successful D.O.G.s! I want to say Thank You to everyone who came out Saturday to participate in the Third D.O.G. This one Qualifies us for our Charter from LSDOS. We had 4 guests that dropped by to see what we were all about, 2 of them stayed for Lunch with us. The other two had a prior commitment with their children, but are interested in what we do and will probably be back. We had a total of 15 Pots, 16 if we count Bear's Coffee Pot. We had 21 CADOG Members present, and fed 23 People. We collected dues for LSDOS from four Families for a total of 18 new LSDOS Members. We look forward to increasing that Statistic in the near future. We elected Officers for the next year: Jerry Dukes - Chapter Adviser Pam Carter - Secretary/Treasurer Patricia Snodgrass and Don Sutton agreed to build our Webpage and do the Newsletter. We agreed to hold our Monthly D.O.G.s on the Second Saturday of each Month, except this August, when we will meet on the Third Saturday. The Black Pots are Hot and Cooking in the Caddo Area! If you know anyone who is interested in GOOD FUN, FOOD, and FELLOWSHIP, please bring them to our August Meeting. In keeping with the fact that August is HOT! in Texas, we decided that the Theme for August will be Hot Cobbler and Cold Ice Cream! Bring your favorite Cobbler and/or Homemade Ice Cream Recipe. If you want to bring store bought, remeber, no one don't like Blue Bell. Congratulations CADOG and we look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday the 20th of August.
Jerry.
