The Oil Patch Cookers are now a sanactioned LSDOS Chapter.  Check back often for chapter updates and information.

On Saturday, February 26, the Oil Patch Cookers met for the first time.  This was a result of a group working to get together to organize the club.  We met at Orangefield ISD Jewell Cormier Park and had a total of 10 husband/wife teams.  Cooking started at about 1:30 p.m. with each team cooking two or three dishes.

The food was delicious.  At 6:00 p.m. we had a blessing and everyone filled his or her plates.  I was worried at first because it was the first time we had met, but we had more than enough food.  In fact, we had so much food; people were able to take some home.  Everyone was bubbling with excitement.

We all had a great time and most everyone asked when the next event would be, before we had even cleaned up from the first one.  We had 30 guests that arrived to eat with us.  Because of the enthusiasm, we had 10 additional people that wanted to join our group.

Our dishes included Mexican food, Spicy Pork Chops, Duck and a few desserts like Pineapple Cake, Fresh cooked apples and cobblers.  We had a few dishes that were crowd favorites, but all were enjoyed.

The next meeting of the Oil Patch Cookers will be held at OISD Jewell Cormier Park on Saturday, May 21, 2005.
