On Feb 16th we will meet at Bear Creek Park at pavilion #6 from 1 – 5PM. Still in Feb on the 29th - March 2nd in Tyler State Park the Dogwood Chapter and the North Texas Prairie Dog Chapter will be hosting the 2nd Annual North Texas Regional Big D.O.G. I hope to be able to make it and one other family has expressed interest. If anyone else is interested we can see about carpooling up there.
On Mar 15th we will meet at Bear Creek Park at pavilion #5 from 1 – 5PM. (Sorry, we can’t always get 6.) Then in April we have tentatively scheduled a regional big DOG for the 11th - 13th in the Sam Houston National Forest. We will be cooking on wood coals instead of charcoal – it should be a good learning experience for all. So far advisors from Sam Houston Chapter, Brazos Valley Chapter, and Tejas Chapter have expressed an interest in joining us. I am sure others will as well. The following weekend is Scout Fair. If you would like to help man our indoor booth – no cookin’ just talkin’ – let me know.
Moving on to May, we don’t have a DOG, but the LSDOS Annual Big DOG will be in held at McKinney Falls in Austin. (As we speak the Austin Chapter advisor is checking with the park to see what dates we can get.) Also Bass Pro Shop would like us to do a demo on May 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th, and 26th for their annual outdoor show.
Following this hectic spring, we can while away the summer sitting in the shade, staying cool, and drinking iced tea.
We start back in September meeting at Bear Creek Park at pavilion #6 from 1 – 5PM on the 20th. Then October 18th we are back in Pavilion #5 - same time different place. November 15th we will be meeting in Tomball. Several folks have said they would like to compete in a Dutch oven cook-off. Here is your chance. Tomball Days has a cook-off planned. The rest of us will just enjoy the cooking and eating. And that brings us back to December and once again I hope we can cook for the park staff.
